Project information

Project SURF and SOUND – Support, Unite, Respond, Fight to Stop Online violence - is focused at reducing the occurrence of online violence against women in society and B.a.B.e., non-governmental organization, is it’s lead beneficiary. The main objective of the project is to actively raise awareness about online violence against women and form mechanisms of its prevention and suppression. Specific objectives include building professional capacities for fighting online violence against women, creating an online platform – NEON - to provide information and promote reporting, providing legal and psychological support for victims, and raising public awareness through a national campaign. Project will create recommendations for improving public policies in the Republic of Croatia and a Code of conduct aimed at cases of online violence. The target groups are women (and potential) victims of cyber violence, experts involved in combatting violence and victim support, online media professionals and the general population. The NEON platform was established as part of the project – creating an integrated model for prevention, reporting and support for victims of online violence in the form of free legal and psychological counselling and support of the Person of trust. Implementation period: 1.3.2021. - 28.2.2023. The project is co-financed by: the European Union from the Rights, Equality and Citizenship program (2014-2020) in the share of 80%, Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs and the City of Zagreb. By working to increase the knowledge and capacity of experts and important stakeholders in society, such as media workers, the project will strengthen the system's capacities and create recommendations for improving public policies in the Republic of Croatia and a protocol for dealing with cases of online violence. 
As part of the project, the NEON platform was created - an integrated model for prevention, reporting and support for victims of online violence in the form of free legal and psychological counseling.

During the implementation of the project, a national campaign will be conducted with the aim of raising awareness among citizens about the insufficiently recognized problem of online violence in order to influence the suppression of its occurrence in society.
