In 2011, the United Nations, through resolution 66\/127, highlighted the importance of raising awareness about elder abuse as a violation of their fundamental human rights, and declared June 15th the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Older Persons.<\/p>\n
Elder abuse is a serious problem in today's society, and effective action at all levels is necessary to combat elder abuse.
