{"id":645,"date":"2010-09-20T09:56:11","date_gmt":"2010-09-20T07:56:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/https:\/\/babe.hr\/\/753-medunarodni-dan-demokracije\/"},"modified":"2021-08-02T22:04:14","modified_gmt":"2021-08-02T20:04:14","slug":"753-medunarodni-dan-demokracije","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/babe.hr\/en\/753-medunarodni-dan-demokracije\/","title":{"rendered":"International Day of Democracy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the third year in a row, the Croatian Parliament is celebrating <strong>International Day of Democracy<\/strong>, September 15. proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2007 with the aim of promoting democratic values.<\/p>\n<p>This year, on this occasion, the Executive Committee of the National Group of the Croatian Parliament at the Inter-Parliamentary Union organized a round table <strong>&quot;Political accountability \u2013 creating connections between parliament and citizens&quot;<\/strong>The round table was opened by the President of the Croatian Parliament. <strong>Luka Bebic<\/strong>, and besides him, the following participated in the round table:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sandra Pernar<\/strong>, president of the GONG association, who presented the results of the research &quot;Local and Transparent Administration and Self-Government - LOTUS&quot;;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Igor Dragovan<\/strong>, President of the Committee for Petitions and Complaints of the Croatian Parliament;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Suzana Kunac, M.Sc.<\/strong>, head of the gender equality program, BaBe, highlighted the problems faced by civil society organizations, including extremely short procedures for passing laws;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ruzica Simunovic<\/strong>, Head of the Public Relations Service of the Croatian Parliament, commented on the Service&#039;s work on raising awareness, especially among the school and student population; &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Berto \u0160alaj<\/strong>, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Political Science, University of Zagreb, explained to the participants the concept of political responsibility in the relationship between citizens and their elected representatives.<\/p>\n<p>The roundtable was also attended by members of the Croatian Parliament, officials and representatives of cities and municipalities that participated in the research, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations and the media.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tre\u0107u godinu zaredom Hrvatski sabor obilje\u017eava Me\u0111unarodni dan demokracije, 15. rujna. koji je proglasila Generalna skup\u0161tina UN-a,&nbsp; 2007. godine s ciljem promicanja demokratskih vrijednosti.
