{"id":685,"date":"2010-11-19T11:38:50","date_gmt":"2010-11-19T10:38:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/https:\/\/babe.hr\/\/767-sramotna-odluka-hrvatskog-sabora\/"},"modified":"2021-08-02T22:04:16","modified_gmt":"2021-08-02T20:04:16","slug":"767-sramotna-odluka-hrvatskog-sabora","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/babe.hr\/en\/767-sramotna-odluka-hrvatskog-sabora\/","title":{"rendered":"Shameful decision of the Croatian Parliament"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"276\" height=\"183\" src=\"http:\/\/https:\/\/babe.hr\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/z_u_tekstilnoj3.jpg\" class=\"attachment-medium size-medium\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Although the media has already clearly expressed dissatisfaction and outrage with the provision of the Act on the Rights and Duties of Representatives in the Croatian State Parliament, which grants the right to retire with 25 years of service and 55 years of age exclusively to female parliamentarians, ministers and judges, due to the requests of numerous citizens who have been contacting us continuously for several days and demanding our public reaction, we are requesting that this privilege be urgently abolished. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dragutin Lesar rightly submitted a proposal for the assessment of the constitutionality of this provision to the Constitutional Court, thereby making this previously unknown shameful decision public, and BaBe intend to sue the Republic of Croatia with a collective lawsuit based on the Anti-Discrimination Act because they believe that this provision discriminates on the basis of social status (Article 1 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, Official Gazette, No. 85\/08), and against all women who have not succeeded and will never be ministers, members of parliament or judges of the Constitutional Court, and who perform far more difficult, often completely physically and mentally exhausting and very demanding jobs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We consider the attempt to justify such a decision by some female representatives to be very inappropriate, because we know that there is no legitimate goal by which this form of discrimination could be justified and tolerated.   In the joint lawsuit, we will specifically refer to the decision of the Constitutional Court, which declares the proposals of two citizens to establish the unconstitutionality of several articles of the Pension Insurance Act as justified and demands equalization of the retirement age for women and men, as well as their exhaustive explanation of why it is inadmissible and unjustified to put one gender (female) in a more favorable position.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We hereby invite citizens who wish to join the joint lawsuit to contact us in person at the House of Human Rights, Selska 112 a, 10000 Zagreb.
