The overall goal of the project was to contribute to strengthening the role of advocacy activities of civil society organizations (CSOs) aimed at general transparency, openness and good governance of Croatian public administration in the field of gender equality, especially those policies that contribute to creating a positive environment for women in the labor market.<\/p>\n<p>The activities were divided into 5 groups: 1) research and assessment of the gender impact of all policies that affect women&#039;s access to the labor market; 2) strengthening capacities for the adoption of gender-responsive policies; 3) monitoring and advocacy in local communities; 4) transfer of knowledge and examples of good practice; 5) visibility - production of media content.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Research\u00a0<\/strong>The policy of reconciling family obligations and paid work in Croatia was carried out during 2015 and included several research activities: mapping and analysis of the existing legislative framework (30 documents) and collection of official data and statistics; interviews with local and national stakeholders (Zagreb, Slavonski Brod, Bukovlje, Metkovi\u0107, Vara\u017edin, Gra\u010dac, Zadar); a survey of cities and municipalities on the activities they undertake to help parents reconcile paid work and family obligations as successfully as possible; and a household survey - citizens&#039; perspectives on reconciling work and family obligations and the support they receive from local self-government units.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the research conducted, a program was created\u00a0<strong>capacity building workshop\u00a0<\/strong>for monitoring and evaluating policies and measures related to gender equality, gender mainstreaming and the position of women in the labour market. During 2016, 28 workshops were held, which were intended for civil society organisations, trade unions, political parties and county gender equality commissions. There were also 6 capacity building workshops for introducing the principles of gender impact assessment into public policies, which were intended for representatives of local self-government, and were held in two cycles \u2013 at the beginning and end of the project, in Zagreb, Gra\u010dac and Vukovar.<\/p>\n<p>In order to encourage monitoring and evaluation of policies at the local level and cooperation between different stakeholders (from civil society organizations and interested citizens to representatives of local and regional authorities, institutions and public institutions), in Zagreb, Gra\u010dac and Vukovar,\u00a0<strong>informal coalitions<\/strong>\u00a0which discussed the situation and problems in the local community and considered possible forms of action to promote gender-sensitive policies. The coalitions have developed\u00a0<strong>4 analyses<\/strong>\u00a0measures\/policies (at national and local level) concerning the position of women in the labor market and\/or gender equality. Analysis of election programs of political parties has been published in numerous media.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2016, it was published\u00a0<strong>publication<\/strong>\u00a0&quot;Woman, Mother, Worker: Balancing Family Obligations and Paid Work in Croatia&quot; which contains the results of research conducted as part of the project during 2015 and an overview of existing policy measures for balancing family and work obligations in the Republic of Croatia.<\/p>\n<p>The publication was presented at\u00a0<strong>regional conference\u00a0<\/strong>held on December 7 in Zagreb, which featured exhibitors from Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia. In addition, the publication was distributed at screenings\u00a0<strong>documentary film<\/strong>\u00a0&quot;Despite Everything: 4 Stories about Women&quot; in Zagreb, Gra\u010dac and Vukovar. The film was made in collaboration with Television Student and tells the stories of 4 women who fought for their place in the labor market. It was also broadcast on HRT4 and is available online.\u00a0<strong>Television show<\/strong>\u00a0The half-hour program was also created in collaboration with Television Student, and the guests were \u017deljka Kamenov (FFZG), Nata\u0161a Novakovi\u0107 (HUP) and Tina Te\u0161ija (BRID).
