On Monday, September 23, 2019, at the Vidra Theater, with a special program of the project "Lily" The Ministry of Internal Affairs is marked National Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
After the speeches by the Chief of Police Nikola Milin, Assistant Minister of Justice Vedrana Simundza Nikolic, Deputy President of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia Marina Mrčele, followed by a dramatic performance 'Speak' academic actors with a performance by the Emergency Police, and a musician Marin Ivanovic Stoka he performed his song 'Lily' dedicated to all women, victims of violence.
The Lily Project, through a series of multi-modular activities aimed at raising awareness among citizens, aims to improve mechanisms for preventing and stopping all forms of gender-based violence, especially violence against women.
On the occasion of the Lily project, the Borovo factory, which celebrated its 88th birthday this year, together with "La Donna", produced a special model of Startas sneakers designed with the aim of promoting public awareness of the importance of a life free from violence, gender equality and equity.
The project, as well as the Lily sneakers, are named after judge Ljiljana Hvalec, who was killed on September 22, 1999, in a tragic attack by a male perpetrator. In addition to her, lawyer Hajra Prohić and the perpetrator's ex-wife Gordana Oraškić were also killed, and the recorder Stanka Cvetković was seriously injured. Part of the proceeds from the purchase of the Lily sneakers will be donated to the BaBe Association safe house
