Who and how will justify the fact that the patrons of the Croatian Congress of Forensic Gynecology and Perinatology are Cardinal Josip Bozanić and Bishop Vlado Košić?!
In the chaos we have witnessed in recent months, with the state failing and the general collapse of the system, increasingly incredible things are happening, some of which are attracting attention and many of which go unnoticed by the public. The latest in a series of things that are incredible to common sense is the news of Cardinal Bozanić and Bishop Košić's patronage of the Croatian Congress of Forensic Gynecology and Perinatology, which will be held in Topusko in September this year.
We demand that the committee organizing the conference explain to the public the logical sequence by which they arrived at inviting two churchmen, and a man at that, to be the sponsors of a conference that will discuss medical issues related to women's reproductive rights! Will they contribute to the scientific discussion with their prayers, and open the meeting by sprinkling the participants? Or will they also give their professional opinion, based on personal experience and scientific facts, and set guidelines for the correct approach of doctors to women's gynecological problems?!!
Such a bizarre act demands a loud public reaction, primarily from women whom the aforementioned two, as spokespeople for the Catholic Church in Croatia, treat as feeble-minded beings on whose behalf they must decide what is permissible and what is not.
We believe that in Croatia, it is very difficult to fall any lower than this act. The Croatian Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics is opening its doors wide to a church run by a club of powerful men bound to lifelong celibacy who feel called to demand control over women's reproductive rights, thereby acknowledging that it will follow their instructions unquestioningly.
If the Croatian Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics stands by its decision on the chosen sponsors, we call on women to boycott all doctors who organized the congress, because they do not deserve to care about women's reproductive health.
We are ashamed on their behalf when they have no shame.
