In April 2019, the BaBe Association celebrates 25 years of existence and work. In marking this anniversary, we take the opportunity to thank all our beneficiaries for the trust they have shown, which has given meaning to the existence of this organization and continues to motivate us to do our best in protecting victims of violence and all those whose fundamental human rights are threatened.
The services of the BaBe association's legal and psychological counseling are requested by an average of 2,000 people annually, some of whom are victims of violence, and some of whom are persons whose human rights have been violated in other ways, for example through discrimination. Also aware of the great role of the European Court of Human Rights in shaping the legal framework and case law, the association's experts have for many years assessed for each situation whether it is a possible strategic case with which an individual user could address the European Court of Human Rights. In addition to numerous previous judgments, in the period from the end of 2017 to the beginning of 2019, the European Court of Human Rights issued three judgments in favor of victims of violations of various human rights, in response to requests written by the association's experts.
Over the past 25 years, we have been teaching about human rights and gender equality to various social groups - from children in schools, through the media, politicians to professionals who work with women victims of violence, and we will continue to do so.
