As part of the project "How Expertise Leads to Prevention, Learning, Identification, Networking and Ending Gender Based Violence (HELPLINE)" funded by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship program of the European Union, and together with project partners the Association for Victim and Witness Support, the Office for Gender Equality, the Police and Judicial Academy, and volunteers from the National Call Center, we traveled on a study visit to Bratislava and Vienna. The study visit lasted from March 24 to March 27, 2019.

The aim of the study visit was to map the characteristics of national systems of EU Member States that have a national helpline for women victims of violence, which is in line with the standards of the Istanbul Convention. The aim of this visit was also to increase the capacities of the project team members and volunteers, and to ensure the multiplication of examples of good practice.

During the study visit to Bratislava, we participated in several meetings with representatives of the Institute for Labour and Family Research, the Coordinating and Methodical Centre for Gender Based and Domestic Violence, the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family, and the Ministry of Justice.
