A video has begun airing that warns the public about the problem of gender-based violence and directs victims and those close to them to hotlines where they can seek help for themselves and others.
This is a campaign that was implemented as part of the HELPLINE project, which BaBe is implementing in partnership with the Police Academy, the Judicial Academy, the Victims and Witnesses Support Association, the Office for Gender Equality of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, the Slovak Institute for Work and Family Research, and with the support of the Gender Equality Ombudsperson. The project is funded by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship program of the European Union, and is co-financed by the City of Zagreb and the Office for NGOs of the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
Under the title "Some people's nightmares begin when they wake up...", BaBe wants to improve the existing system of support for women victims of gender-based violence by ensuring the accumulation of examples of good practice, sustainable solutions in line with relevant EU directives, increasing the capacities of volunteers and experts who are in contact with women victims of violence, and promoting cross-sectoral cooperation. Zagreb actress Ivana Boban also participated in the campaign, who managed to convincingly portray the harrowing everyday life of many women whose days begin with physical and psychological torture by their partners.
