On Friday, the BaBe Association condemned President Milanović's astonishing statement about "spoiled celebrities" who report sexual violence, because we consider it our duty to react to the public belittling and discouraging of victims of sexual violence. Since our goal is to contribute to raising public awareness about the seriousness and prevalence of sexual abuse, we do not intend to engage in discussions that trivialize this topic and serve the self-promotion of individual public figures. We hope that media reporting will continue to encourage all women - regardless of their status and sphere of activity - to report violence, and we invite them to contact us with confidence. Our primary role is to provide direct legal and psychosocial support to victims of all forms of violence through counseling, assistance in exercising their rights, and accommodation in a safe house.
