Production company KINEMATOGRAF and organization Babe! from Zagreb invite authors of original templates (in the form of stories, scripts, motifs or synopses) to a competition for the realization of a regional feature film project – the omnibus DEEP CUTS. The thematic framework represents VIOLENCE in all its forms: as the destruction of intimacy, family, integrity, trust – explicit or implicit psychological, physical, emotional violence.
The choice of narrative angles, motivation, degree of psychologization and characterization, and thematic plans are left to the author.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- complex, thought-out, articulated, innovative (formally and content-wise) research and depictions of intimate interpersonal relationships that have a violent character or are the result of violent behavior;
- creative approach to the form of a short feature film;
- a departure from the usual, predictable treatment of the topic.
WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR:
- simplified, didactic, stereotyped, typed representations of violent relationships;
- dedicated, propaganda and spot forms.
The selected works, at least 3 and at most 6, will be adapted into screenplays, in collaboration with the author. Copyright agreements will be concluded with the authors, which will regulate the amount of remuneration and the manner of use of the copyrighted work.
Scripts for a short feature film, lasting at least 15 and at most 30 minutes, will be realized in the form of a regional omnibus.
Selected authors will be personally informed about the production conditions for the realization of the film project.
The deadline for submission of papers is 01.03.2011.
The results of the call will be published on the website www.kinematograf.hr and www.babe.hr
