The Youth Initiative for Human Rights invites you to volunteer in the campaign to collect signatures of support for the establishment RECOM-a, of the Regional Commission to be determined facts about war crimes and other serious violations of human rights committed on the territory of the former SFRY from 1991 to 2001.
Thousands of young people from the region will be carriers first major campaigns which will simultaneously to be carried out in all countries former SFRY. The RECOM Campaign will be the largest youth networking event in the region to date.
Ten years since the end of armed conflicts on the territory of the former SFRY:
- in none The list of those killed in the war has not been completed by the states.
- more than 15,000 people are still being run as missing
- the numbers of those killed and injured are often manipulates for political purposes
- they are victims marginalized, their voices are rarely heard in public
These and many other reasons have led to more than 400 associations victims, missing persons, inmates, journalists, human rights organizations and 300 individuals, of all nations and religions from the territory of the former SFRY that, gathered in the Coalition for RECOM, they advocate creation independent interstate commission.
During April and May in all countries successor states of the SFRY will be collected signatures of support for RECOM-u. This will be the first major initiative implemented simultaneously in all successor states of the SFRY since the end of armed conflicts. As the most important part campaign, volunteers will have the opportunity to gain incredible experiences working on collecting signatures, press conferences, public events... They will also have the opportunity to develop new skills, through trainings on teamwork and public performance, meet young people from different cities and countries in the region, gain insight into the organization of a large campaign...
Anyone interested in volunteering in the signature collection campaign across Croatia can apply by sending their contact information and a CV with basic information or a short motivation letter by April 15th to potpisi-hrvatska@zarekom.org or to the Youth Initiative for Human Rights at croatia@yihr.org. All volunteers will receive upon completion of the campaign certificate about volunteering and recommendation Youth initiatives for human rights, which can be additional references in the biography.
There will be symbolic signatures of support in June submitted to all parliaments in the region, together with the Statute of the commission. RECOM has so far been supported by the presidents of Croatia and Serbia, Ivo Josipović and Boris Tadić, the Parliament of Montenegro, the European Commission and the European Parliament, as well as numerous public figures in the region.
