The publication is part of a project that BaBe implemented in 2006 with financial assistance from USAID and in cooperation with AED and the National Foundation for Civil Society Development. By researching "The Contribution of Civil Society Organizations to Strengthening Democratization" and publishing the publication "Values of Values", we wanted to demonstrate the exceptionally large role and significant contribution of civil society organizations in the processes of democratization, promotion of human rights, protection of marginalized groups, etc.
Paths and detours in legislative advocacy - How to influence the adoption of quality laws and their consistent application? The publication was created as part of the project "Strengthening the role of civil society in promoting democratic practices and anti-discrimination standards thanks to the financial support of the National Foundation for the Development of Civil Society. The guide deals with the issue of legislative advocacy and the important role of civil society organizations in the processes of creating, adopting and implementing public policies in society.
The second revised edition of the book Who is to blame? was published with the financial support of the Ministry of Family, Veterans' Affairs and Intergenerational Solidarity. The book describes ten cases of women victims of domestic violence with new comments on the existing legal framework, as well as an overview of international standards and legal regulations. The comments on each case should be useful for women who decide to leave the cycle of violence.
I Don't Want to Live in Violence - a small legal guide for people who want to break the cycle of violence. The guides are published by the City Office for Health, Labor, Social Welfare and Veterans and the Commission for Protection from Domestic Violence in the City Government of the City of Zagreb, and the author of the texts is Ljubica Matijević-Vrsaljko, head of the BaBe legal team. The guide is the result of the organization's many years of experience in working with victims of violence, which has highlighted the need for simple and understandable information for victims about their rights...
Brochure printed as part of the project "I listen, I hear, I understand" which was implemented in the Lučko Elementary School with students, parents and teachers of the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades, during the 2009/2010 school year. The main goal of the project was to improve the quality of family life and encourage the realization of the concept of successful and equal parenting. The brochure provides an overview of several workshops intended for children as well as the results of a survey conducted with parents of students of the Lučko Elementary School. The brochure and the project were realized thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of Family, Veterans' Affairs and Intergenerational Solidarity.
The publication was created as part of the project "Raising local voices to the national level: charting a roadmap towards the effective implementation of anti-discrimination legislation at the local and national levels". The project was funded by the European Commission's PHARE line and the National Foundation for the Development of Civil Society. The aim of the book was to document the problems associated with discrimination against excluded and marginalized groups in five selected local government units - the Municipality of Erdut, Slavonia-Požega County, Šibenik-Knin County, Vis Island and Međimurje County; to find out about their needs and priorities, shortcomings and achievements, in order to convey what we have observed and heard to decision-makers at the local and national levels.
"Values in practice - management and activism of civil society for democratization and human rights", the book is a continuation of our earlier publication "Values of values", and presents the results of the research project Models of good management in CSOs in the field of democratization and human rights, Association for Civic Education and Civic Development. The purpose of the project was to obtain relevant data on adopted management practices and standards of Croatian CSOs, in order to determine which forms of management need to be changed, i.e. harmonized with basic democratic principles.
"The Path to Your Own Viewpoint - How to Read, Listen to, and Understand Media Texts and Media Culture" is a manual by author Sanja Sarnavka that problematizes the relationship between women and the media using the approach of the famous political scientist and communications theorist Harold D. Laswell - who, what, through which channel, to whom, and with what effect - on a global and local level. In the book, the author analyzes women's perception of media content, as well as the predominant role/image of women in the media, thus contributing to media literacy and the adoption of a more critical attitude towards media content.
The book was first published in 2006, and this is the second expanded edition given the significantly changed situation in the Croatian media space (growing influence of the Internet, spread of social media, transition to digital signal, etc.).
The second expanded edition of the book was printed with the financial support of the Government Office for Gender Equality.

There are various forms of economic violence that occur in Croatia. Some of them are: complaining about the way one's own money is spent; a partner takes one's partner's or joint money without their knowledge; forcing the partner to lie about the price of something she bought, etc. Very serious problems arise when a couple lives in a property that is registered to the partner's family or to the partner himself. Over the years, partners invest in real estate and then one day find out that they are not entitled to even the smallest part of the property if the relationship ends. Among younger people, it is a worrying phenomenon that partners spend money on gambling and betting. All the research results with detailed data can be found in the attached book.
The Gender Equality module with precisely developed teaching units for classes from the 5th grade of elementary school to the 4th grade of secondary school was created as part of the project Coming out of the darkness - prevention and support for victims of violence and released in September 2013.
The basic goal of the module is to question prejudices and stereotypes that lead to discrimination and violence against those who are different, different from the majority, and to introduce international conventions and regulations that establish standards for the protection of human rights and the prohibition of discrimination based on gender. From a discussion about colors associated with a certain gender - pink for girls, blue for boys, choosing toys, analyzing fairy tale characters, we gradually move towards analyzing the influence of family, environment and popular culture on our understanding of ourselves as members of a certain gender. By "traveling" to the past, and then to different countries of the world today, we show how the prescribed appearance of men and women has changed, so, for example, at the beginning of the 20th century. boys were dressed in pink because this color is closer to red, which symbolizes strength and action, etc. The silence of strong and courageous women in history, the fight for the right to vote, the path to the adoption of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women is part of the content in high school. It is essential to present the content in a continuous interaction between students and teachers, without imposing any ideologically colored views. The only thing that must not be questioned is the prohibition of any disparagement, insulting of dignity, or violence against people because they look different or behave differently from our expectations. No matter how much they do not agree with our value system, no matter how much we do not understand them or feel any empathy for them, we never have the right to violate their human rights.
